COPs, climate change and biodiversity – what will the recent conferences actually achieve?
For the past three decades the United Nations has been hosting global climate summits, called COPs (Conference of the Parties). Increased focus on the world and the climate crisis has seen these COPs go from being fringe events to a global priority. Two such conferences were held at the end of 2022: COP 27 on climate change and COP 15 on biodiversity. The outcomes of these events will increasingly shape the future course of the world.
